Razdrto, a friendly village was first mentioned in 1200. Its rich history stems mainly from its strategic location, as it stands at the crossroads between the main city of Slovenia Ljubljana, Koper, Trieste, and the Vipava Valley. Due to its special location, the original name of the place was appropriate, namely Preval or Prevuach. This term means where the world moves from one valley to another. Due to the extraordinary location of Razdrto, many important routes ran through it, both the Roman road and the imperial road. The most important was undoubtedly the flourishing of Razdrto during the time of carting. According to tradition, there were as many as 17 restavrants and a few hotels. Later in Italy, the village of Razdrto was renamed Picola Parigi, as the village had five restaurants and pubs, two shops, a butcher’s, a doctor and a dentist, a taxi driver and everything else that the rich people of Trieste needed to enjoy the so-called green oasis.
